It all started with “mom” burnout…
Cozy Contentment
Koselig is a Norwegian term that doesn’t really have a meaning in English. The closest we can get is the feeling of “warm fuzzies.” But koselig embodies much more than just coziness. It includes the joy of company, the warmth of a homecooked meal, the majesty of nature, and much more. And all of this falls under the umbrella of finding contentment in the middle of dark winter days, when it’s easy to feel depressed; easy to lose your way. Koselig reminds you to find joy in contentment in what you have, even in the dead of winter.
The thing is, that’s exactly what the Lord’s trying to teach me too. As a mom of 4 young ones, I found myself stuck in a loop of anger, guilt and exhaustion simply trying to keep four tiny humans alive and not really knowing how to take care of my own needs. The Lord took me on a three year journey to rekindle my faith and to show me that I needed to place my trust in Him, to hand over all my anxiety and guilt, and to let Him fill my cup back up to overflowing.
Slowly, He taught me how to find contentment in my everyday. He taught me how to see His graces and His presence in every moment whether it was joyful or difficult. He reframed my view of what rest was and taught me to seek Him first.
In my view, koselig and learning to rest in the Lord are one in the same, because it’s only after you learn to rest in the Lord, who He says He is, and who He says I am, that I’m able to find contentment in my everyday.
My prayer for you…
If I can help you find koselig in the middle of winter with a cotton waffle beanie, or in the middle of summer with a “mama needs jesus” journal, or if a soft and cuddly dino lovey can help your daughter find contentment in the middle of the night as a reminder that she’s not alone, then I want to offer those to you as an aid to help see the Lord’s graces in your life! There is a very real aspect to koselig that includes all the things that we surround ourselves with. If I can help add a little warmth and cozy in your daily life, I would love to be able to do that.
BUT, please know that all these things (even the things I make and sell) are fleeting and will come and go. My true passion is to help you find true koselig for your soul that only comes from the ability to surrender all of who you are to the only One that can hold your life in the palm of His hand. You will never find true contentment, true joy, and true rest until you learn how to rest in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. You’ll always be striving, always be searching for the next best thing to solve your problems, that you’ll never really find true contentment. That is, until you’re content with giving it all to Him.
Above all, that’s what I want to help you accomplish. I want to help you awaken the koselig in your heart that only comes from resting in the arms of Jesus.
