FAQs

Why are natural fibers best?

Acrylic yarns are essentially made with plastic fibers. Ever wear a plastic bag on your head? Doesn't take long for your hair to get saturated by sweat. Natural fibers won't do that, which is why we prefer them over acrylic fibers. They'll breathe with your body and regulate your temperature better so you can stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat.

As California natives, we’ve found that cotton fibers help to keep us warm without the added bulk of wool. The difference between a cotton beanie and a wool beanie is quite substantial. So if you’re looking for a lighter-weight accessory, head to our cotton section. If you’d like a more substantial winter accessory, you’ll want to look at our wool section.

You don’t have what I need in stock. How do I place a large order?

Large orders require many small details that can't always be captured on our order form. It is easiest to email us what you're looking for, we'll discuss everything, and set up a custom order for you.

We’re happy to make something custom for you as well! Just send us an email and we’ll get all the details squared away.

What size beanie should I get?

Well that depends on the size of your head. For most accurate purchases, measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure. Otherwise, we follow basic industry standards for our sizing and do our best to match this with each beanie and headband made. However, please allow for a small percentage of human error. We’re not perfect, after all.

Our beanies will fit up to:
Newborn: 16" cir
3-6 M: 17" cir
6-12 M: 18" cir
12-24 M: 19" cir
Toddler: 20" cir
Child: 21" cir
Women: 22" cir
Men: 23" cir

What fiber can I wear in the snow?

Cotton is a great absorber, so we wouldn't recommend it for any situation where it could get snowed or rained heavily on. If you're looking for a mountain beanie, we'd recommend our 100% wool/alpaca beanies. Just like a sheep would be able to stay dry in the rain, wool and alpaca beanies will repel water and snow while still insulating the inside of the beanie.
